Now, Your Routine Starts the Moment You Arrive

At Routinery, we’ve spent years refining one core question: What truly helps people follow through with their routines consistently and effortlessly?

Timers, reminders, and streak insights are all valuable. But through ongoing behavioral research and user feedback, we realized something deeper : people don’t skip routines because they lack discipline. They skip them because the right cue wasn’t there when it was needed.

That’s why we’re expanding how routines can begin by offering a timely, contextual nudge based on where you are.

Routinery now supports location-driven routine

Introducing : Location-Based Routine Reminders

With this update, you can now receive routine reminders based on your physical context either when you arrive at a location or when you leave it.

  • Arrive home → get a notification to begin your evening routine

  • Enter the gym → get prompted to start your workout

  • Sit at your favorite cafĂŠ → receive a reminder to focus

  • Leave the office → get nudged to begin your wind-down

  • Depart from the gym → get a suggestion to stretch or hydrate

This feature acknowledges a simple reality: most people’s schedules aren’t rigid. You might leave work late, adjust your gym time, or shift study hours. Time-based reminders can miss those changes, but location-based notifications adapt to your real-world movement.

Now, instead of relying only on the clock, you can receive helpful nudges aligned with the places you transition through.

Notify either when you arrive at a place or departure at a place

Why We Built It

Traditional habit apps often center around fixed time triggers. But behavioral science shows that contextual cues, like entering or leaving a space, can be even more powerful in prompting action.

By introducing both on-arrival and on-departure reminders, Routinery becomes more flexible and aligned with how people naturally move through their day. It doesn’t assume a strict schedule. It supports situational awareness, so the idea of “starting” feels natural, not forced.

This isn’t automation for automation’s sake. It’s about helping you remember at the right moment, without pressure or friction.

What’s Next

This feature is part of a larger vision: To reduce the mental load of habit formation by designing systems that offer support, not judgment. You still control what you do and when you start, Routinery is simply improving how and when it reminds you.

We’ll continue developing context-aware, user-friendly features that make routines easier to follow through, not by demanding more willpower, but by making starting feel simpler and better timed.

Because routines shouldn’t depend on perfect memory or discipline. Sometimes, all it takes is the right nudge, at the right place.

📍 This feature is currently available on iOS only, but we're planning to make it available on all devices in a future update!
